As soon as I got to Adrian’s house, I rushed to the front door and rang the bell like my life depended on it. A few seconds later, one of the maids, an elderly woman with a stern face opened it.
“Hello, ma’am. Please… is Adrian in his room?” I asked, trying to keep calm.
She gave me a hard stare. “If he asked you to come, then yes. But if he didn’t, then no. He’s busy right now… he has a guest.”
My chest tightened. “And… who are you?” she added suspiciously.
“Uh… um… I’m Adrian’s...” Before I could finish, another younger maid walked in, smiling warmly.
“I know her,” she said. “She’s Master Adrian’s girlfriend.”
The older woman relaxed a little. “He’s in his room. You can go check on him. But you should knock first… please.”
“Okay, thank you, ma’am,” I said, already
