I woke before sunrise, long before the bells began ringing throughout Dragonspire and for several minutes I remained beneath the blankets while I stared into the darkness and listened to the distant sounds of the fortress waking around me. Today was the day I would become Draven's wife and although I had known the wedding was coming since the moment my father agreed to the bargain, the reality had finally settled heavily inside my chest. I pushed myself out of bed and crossed the cold stone floor before opening the curtains.
