"The surprise was taking me out to lunch?" I asked the moment the host sat us down at our table.
I do have to admit that this place isn't what I was expecting. It's not a typical hole-in-the-wall place, but it's not a super fancy Michelin-star chef's place either. It's somewhere in between. A nice little place with cute tables outside. Which is where we sat. The vibe is nice too. Quiet and calm.
"No, this isn't the surprise," Kyren replied, not sparing me a glance as he looked at the menu. "Just a place for us to get a quick bite to eat first."
