“We have information we want to share with you,” Lucas said calmly, stepping toward the chairs in front of Leo’s desk.
Abby followed more cautiously, her gaze locked on her father. He didn’t look at her. His attention stayed fixed on Lucas as he took his seat behind the desk. The distance felt deliberate. Cold.
She lowered herself into the chair beside Lucas, her leg bouncing uncontrollably.
“And what information would that be?” Leo asked quietly.
Lucas inhaled slowly. “Someone has been making threats against Abby and me. We believe Joe’s poisoning was meant to scare us. To stop us from talking to people.”
Leo’s lips pressed into a thin line, his brows drawing together in skepticism. “Why would someone be threatening you?”
“I know it goes against what the elders ordered,” Lucas said
