Abby didn’t want to be in the hospital any more than Joe did. She didn’t need to feel his anxiety through the bond to know he was barely holding it together as they walked through the main doors. His hand was clammy where it clutched hers. His breathing came shallow and quick. His eyes moved constantly, scanning every hallway, every nurse, every passing cart.
