From the corner of the room, Kaela, within Talia's body, made a loud, theatrical gagging sound. “Oh gods,” she muttered, rolling her eyes toward the ceiling. “I just got my memories back, and this is what you greet me with? Sentimental declarations about Thomas?” Kaela groaned loudly as a wolf. “ I just threw up in my mouth. I need to wash out my mouth.” She turned and stalked toward the adjoining chamber, muttering curses under her breath about ‘soft-hearted witches’ and ‘stubborn alphas.’ Sera watched her go—and smiled. Just a little. It was the old Kaela. Sharp-tongued. Unimpressed. Even beneath the layers of loss and the trauma of awakening, she was still herself.
