The soft warmth from my pup’s body felt like a dream as I held him in my arms. His little body was so fragile yet already carried a strength that was totally surprising for a newborn. His light breath caressed my skin, like the whisper of a gentle breeze across still waters.
Slowly, I brushed my lips against his forehead, planting a tender kiss there and filling my lungs with his sweet scent. Sensing my touch, he shifted in his sleep, his tiny lips parting and leaving a faint coo.
Only moments ago, he had been wide awake, kicking and wriggling so strongly that he had even startled me.
