Alexander POV Angry didn’t even begin to describe how I felt. David Lake was once again complicating a situation that was already stressful enough. If he thought I’d let him cover up his schemes this time, he was dead wrong. My rage was growing by the second and it felt like the elevator was descending more slowly than ever. I held Ella’s hand, hoping to offer her some comfort. At the moment, I didn’t trust myself to speak. I could only imagine what was going through her mind. She had worked up the courage to face this situation head on and now David had inserted himself into her life again. He was like a ghost that we couldn’t get rid of. Ella deserved to move on with her life, but it seemed to me that as long as David Lake was alive, she would never truly be free of him.
