Ella POV Elizabeth and I sat across from each other at a small table in our favorite restaurant at the shopping center. An untouched appetizer sat between us, the ice in our drinks melting slowly. I didn’t want to push her. Whatever she had to tell me, she was clearly struggling with. But I also needed answers. Finally, Elizabeth let out a deep sigh. “Ella… you and Alexander are in love, right?” Her voice was careful, measured. “If he had some kind of deep secret… he would have told you, wouldn’t he?” My heart stopped. Had McIntyre told her about the Ice King? Had Alexander’s identity been exposed? If Elizabeth knew, she’d have no choice but to tell her father. And if that happened… everything would come crashing down. I forced myself to breathe evenly and nodded.
