Rhett’s POV After getting into the car, I didn’t look back toward the hospital again. Aria leaned against the passenger seat, her profile washed in the flickering lights outside the window—quiet to an unsettling degree. I drove steadily the entire way. When we reached home, I unbuckled her seat belt for her. My fingers paused on the clasp for a brief moment, but I said nothing. She followed me out obediently, her steps a little slow, and I reached out to steady her. “Get some good rest,” I reminded her in a low voice. “You don’t need to worry about anything outside.” I walked her to her room, watched her lie down on the bed, and pulled the covers up around her.
