She screamed hysterically while shaking her head over and over, as if shaking hard enough could fling those words out of her mind.
But her tears were far more honest than her denial.
Without warning, they spilled out of her eyes.
Drop by drop, quickly blurring her vision.
Her body began to tremble violently, as if struck by a sudden bolt of lightning, completely engulfed by overwhelming shock and pain.
“No… impossible…”
She murmured, her voice shaking. “Nathaniel wouldn’t do this to me… He loves me. How could he possibly do something like this?”
Her hands shook uncontrollably.
The file—like a piece of burning charcoal—slipped from her fingers and scattered across the bedsheets.
