Beckett’s POV The humid air of the dining room lingers on my skin long after the production crew packs away the cameras, and the other contestants drift away, heading to their private quarters, but it’s the quiet after the noise that hits me the hardest. By the time I make it back to my cabin, the hum of the ship’s engines is the only sound left, a low, vibrating pulse that travels straight up through the soles of my feet as I walk along the thick carpet to the stern of the ship. I close the heavy cabin door behind me, letting the latch click into place with a definitive, hollow sound.
