Beckett’s POV 'What if we glued them to something sturdier?' I suggest after a few seconds. 'Cardboard, maybe, folded so it can stand on its own.' Callie considers this, unconvinced. 'But then they'd be flat against the cardboard. Not standing properly. Not holding hands right.' She has a point, I realise, studying the three cutouts laid out before us. For them to properly stand upright, holding hands the way she's envisioned, they'll need something more structural than a simple backing. 'What if,' I say slowly, working through it as I speak, 'we made small stands for each figure, like a little base, folded from cardboard, that each person slots into? Then they could stand independently, close enough together to hold hands, without needing to be glued flat against anything.' Callie ti
