#Chapter 201: Not A Date, But Something Like It

1299 Words

Damien’s POV Both Annette and I were totally shocked by the girls’ invitation of Annette as my date to Claire’s ceremony. I knew right away that they were only trying to help, likely hoping that by inviting Annette, they had hoped to resolve the clear tension between us. But what they lacked was context of the situation. This wasn’t just some normal party, or even a fun event like the Alpha Ball. The existence of Claire’s ceremony at all was what was causing the tension here. Annette going as my date to something like this would only make everything worse for both of us. Also, I’d already promised myself that I wouldn’t let Claire anywhere near Annette, and that meant keeping Annette away from Claire as well. “The girls are well meaning,” I said at once. “But they are mistaken.”
