“What does it say?” Sienna pressed. She reached for another copy of the same newspaper I was reading.
I supposed I might as well give voice to what it said. She was going to find out anyway. Everyone was.
I swallowed hard, and then forced myself to say the words.
“My family disowned me.”
Sienna’s POV
After learning he had been disowned, cast out from his own family, Ian carefully folded the newspaper, stuck it under his arm, and walked off without another word. He seemed to be walking out of town, straight for a wooded area. I doubted he knew where he was going. Likely, he just wanted to get away for a moment.
I knew what it felt like to be rejected by your family. I took a step forward to follow him.
