I was surprised to see Amelia and Cara walk by me in the hallway. Amelia had downward cast eyes, barely saying much more than good morning to me. Cara didn’t acknowledge me at all.
I ignored them both right back, scrolling through my phone. Yet, her mere presence here was kind of like a slap to the face.
After what she had ‘done,’ I was sure Eve would have fired her.
Yet here she was, walking around like she owned the place, and she wasn’t moving in the direction of the records room, which was where I thought Eve had condemned her to as punishment?
As I moved near the nurses’ station, I saw Healer Eve in the hallway.
“Healer Eve,” I said, ready to get Amelia in trouble. “I could have sworn I just saw Amelia walking toward surgery.”
