I didn’t want to go back home, not with Amelia there – or Annette, whatever she called herself now. I’d been debating for a while whether to take a job at the university where I had earned my degree, or if I should go home and try to truly mend things with my family.
But, with Ian’s rejection, and Amelia proving herself to be the witch I always knew she was, I decided to take that job and stay away from Jake’s pack on a more permanent basis.
I already had friends here and a social life, so the transition from student to faculty wasn’t all that difficult. If anything, it was a welcome relief to stay so far away, to know people who Amelia hadn’t corrupted yet.
