“I’m so very sorry, Alpha. I was the one who riled up the rest of the pack council, and I am the only one who should be punished.” Claire started to bow with her apology, as if hoping to double the appearance of her sincerity.
“I accept full responsibility for this overstep and the mix-up,” she said.
I stared at her, utterly flabbergasted about what to do. I was certain she was up to something, but right now I couldn’t prove it. And as she was lowering her pride, even if it was just for show, to counteract her now would make me look like the worst kind of villain.
The pack council already found her endearing, but I could see the appreciation beaming out of their eyes as they looked at her now, like she had caught the moon in her hands and was holding it out for them.
