Damien’s POV
I had no idea that Annette had been worried about Claire and me, but now that this was cleared up, she truly seemed to have come out of her shell, talking to me more like a friend. Before, she had been more reserved, so careful. Now, she was more open.
Even at the end of our meal, I wasn’t ready for the night to end.
We were supposed to be careful. I didn’t want Claire to know I was feeling close to Annette. But Claire wasn’t here. She was at her event. Annette and I were in an entirely different pack where we were both relative unknowns.
This, coupled with my own desire to continue spending time with Amelia, gave me the boldness to ask her, as we stood outside the restaurant, before we could part ways, “Would you like to go for a walk with me?”
“I’d like that,” Annette
