Amelia’s POV I returned to the hospital the next day, after Damien went to work and the girls to school. Before he left, Damien had suggested that I take it easy that day, given everything that had just happened at the banquet and with Ian, but I wasn’t going to just sit around. It had been some time since the last banquet, and I wanted to check on the boy who had been poisoned. When I arrived and headed to his room, his mother hugged me tightly. “He’s going to be released tomorrow,” she said. Her eyes were damp, tears welling. “Thank you so much, Luna. You saved his life.” I didn’t believe that I did much of anything, but I didn’t have the heart to disparage her in this moment. She looked so relieved, so happy, I felt to say anything negative, even against myself, might ruin the mood
