Damien’s POV
I stared at Claire like she’d grown a second head, utterly caught off guard by both the inappropriateness of her question, as well as the gall she had at even demanding such a thing after all she had taken from me.
“That was never part of the deal,” I told her.
“It was… implied,” she said.
“No. I reinstated you into the pack and pardoned you for your horrific actions against the mother of my children, but there was never anything said about helping you have some kind of career, let alone a political one with the pack council.”
“So that’s it. You just won’t help me then?” she asked, narrowing her eyes at me.
“You can’t possibly think that I would.”
“You should see the strength in me. I have perseverance and determination. I never let anything stand in the way of my wants
