Or maybe he truly wanted this child dead more than he could see reason. “You must see how dangerous it is for you here,” the lead enforcer said. “That poison could have been meant for you. “Is that what Damien wants?” I accused wildly, fear ruling my thoughts. “Of course not,” said another enforcer. “He just wants you home where you belong.” “I never belonged there,” I said. “He only wants to protect you,” said the lead enforcer. I didn’t believe him, and not just because he was a passionless messenger. I knew the truth, which I had overheard from Olivia and Victoria. Damien just wanted to get rid of my baby and make me some kind of live-in human mistress. I wouldn’t let that happen to my child and me.
