When we got home, we both had showers, Mom first. I began making dinner. I put some hamburger in a pan and started a meal of Hamburger Helper, adding my usual add-in to the Double Cheeseburger box, Mild salsa, to add a little zing to the mix. I got it to the simmer time when Mom hollered out that she was done. I let her know I started dinner and to stir the mix in about five minutes. I then hopped in my shower, putting on similar clothes when I got out. Mom wore her usual extra-long sleep shirt and her thick terrycloth robe.
Mom had thrown some veggies in the microwave and completed our meal with thick slices of French bread and butter. We each had milk with our meals. The conversation was light. We discussed the day in the park and my plans for the following week while she was working. I
