I shrugged. "We could go to my dorm room."
Technically, I had two roommates. I had only seen one of those guys once at that point. Richard was packing up and leaving as I moved in. He and Hiroji enjoyed their summers off and spent the time with their families. So for that summer I basically had a big dorm room all to myself. After I made the mistake of inviting Candice over, that became common knowledge.
We sat on the couch and talked for maybe fifteen minutes. I was relieved at the time, thinking I had "nipped this in the bud." I was concerned at the time about people thinking I was gay. Candice's reasoning was pretty weak.
"I just saw you were comfortable talking to the other guys in class, but you barely talked to any of the women, or even looked at them for that matter," she said. S
