"Okay," I replied, shaking my head. "I just realized we left that bedroom window wide open, and the lights have been on in here ever since you came upstairs. I couldn't help but think that my mom might have gone into my room to check on me, and then she would have seen everything." All three of us turned and looked toward my bedroom window. It was actually something of a relief for me to look over there. Even the outline of my house was faint, and I knew there was no way Melissa had ever seen me watching her through my binoculars the second half of our senior year.
