When he returned, I put on my best 'boyfriend' voice and said, "And what are you going to have, Adrian?" I grinned big at using Mom's first name, and she smiled cutely back. She gave her order to the waiter, and I provided mine. We both got Ribeyes with sauteed onions, loaded baked potatoes with a side salad, and Blue Cheese dressing, plus extra on the side. Dinner was phenomenal, and the company and conversation flowed smoothly. We discussed what we had been doing at work, and not a word was said about Dad. I continued to call her by name, to which she continued to smile.
We went home after a dessert of Dutch Apple pie à la mode and a short walk before catching a cab.
