It took several minutes before she was finished. I heard the shower running, and heard her voice faintly over the sound of the water as she muttered something. When the water stopped, I turned onto my side facing the bathroom door and rested my head on my right hand. Mom came out with a fluffy white bath towel wrapped around her.
