Ciara's POV
We got back to the pack, and hours had passed since the fight, but it did not feel like hours.
It felt like my life had split into two timelines: before it happened, and after.
The pack house was humming like a disturbed beehive. I could still hear the murmurs even with the doors to my room shut and the curtains drawn.
The rumors circulating were about the strange powers and my origin. I knew that much.
I observed that footsteps paused outside my door for longer than usual and then moved on. The voices rose and fell in ways that were not loud enough for me to catch the exact words, but just enough for me to know they were talking about me.
