The first thing I heard was a familiar voice.
"She's waking up."
I opened my eyes slowly.
Everything felt heavy for a moment as I looked around the recovery room. The lights were softer than I remembered, and it took me a second to figure out where I was.
Then I saw Cole.
He was sitting beside my bed, still wearing the blue surgical scrubs. His eyes met mine the second I looked at him, and the smile that spread across his face was unlike anything I'd ever seen.
"Hey," he said quietly.
I smiled back.
"Hi."
He leaned over and kissed my forehead.
"You did it."
I looked at him for a second before the question I'd been trying to ask finally came out.
"Our babies?"
His smile grew even wider.
"They're perfect."
Tears filled my eyes before I could stop them.
"All three?"
