I got back to my desk after the call with Gerald and sat there for a moment without opening anything.
The call had gone exactly the way I expected it to. Gerald had footage of me and Lena at the grocery store and he'd used it the only way available to him, as leverage in a phone call rather than a formal filing, which told me everything I needed to know about how much confidence he actually had in it. Two people standing in a grocery store wasn't misconduct. It wasn't even close. But it told me Brad had been there and that Brad was watching and that the situation outside the case had become something I needed to factor in more carefully going forward.
I opened the Calloway file and made two notes.
