CASSANDRA’S POV
BOOM!
The world cracked open.
An earsplitting explosion tore through the air, followed by a heavy rumble that made the ground tremble beneath me like the earth itself was groaning in agony. Screams echoed down the corridors. Real screams. From real men. From women who I supposed were the lab personnel that were caught in between cross fire and hadn’t escaped. Gunfire rang out next, in chaotic bursts followed by another explosion so loud I thought the ceiling might collapse over my head.
