CASSANDRA’S POV~
I hadn’t been myself all morning.
After reading that letter… something inside me just splintered. The words kept circling in my head like a vulture. Important information about your father. That was all it took to snatch away my appetite, my sleep, and every damn ounce of peace I’d finally begun to feel again.
I didn’t even bother telling Adriano. I couldn’t. If I did, I knew he’d never let me leave the villa. So I ignored the guards yelling after me at the gates and climbed into the back of a taxi with shaking hands and a whisper of an address on my tongue.
The ride felt endless.
When we finally arrived, I paid the driver and stood there for a long second, just… staring.
