TIA POV I gasped for air, awaking from the same nightmare I had many times. It was always the same, but it was as though adult me was watching and no matter how much I screamed and pleaded for nine-year-old me not to take that vile woman’s hand and not to follow her into the forest, little Tia didn’t hear me. She follows blindly. That was the last time I ever allowed myself to trust anyone completely. I looked around the bedroom. It was basic but clean, and that was all I could ask for.
