NARRATIVE POV Sparrow watched the young female from twenty feet up in the trees. He was always watching her from a distance. She was stunning. He couldn’t believe his luck. He had been lonely for so long that he didn’t think it was possible for him ever to find a mate, but here she was. Sitting alone, as she often did, by the gentle stream that ran through the ground forest of the Slaughtered Lambs pack territory. She was always alone, like him. He knew her pack cared for her, but he suspected that, with her hybrid DNA, this vision before him was a reflection of rejection, so she preferred the comforts of her own presence.
