Gerald's POV Melissa ended up pressed against my chest, her back to me, Caz’s arm braced on the other side of her so that his forearm rested against my shoulder. Cece stood in front of Caz, her ass brushing his thigh every time she shifted. No one spoke for a long time. The only sounds were the rain and our breathing. Melissa’s wet hair smelled of river water and something sweeter. When she turned her head to say something to Caz, her cheek grazed my collarbone. I felt her shiver. Caz’s voice was rough. “You cold?” “No,” she answered. “Not cold.” Cece’s hand found mine under the tarp. She squeezed hard once, then guided my fingers to the small of Melissa’s back, just above the waistband of her soaked bottoms. I left them there. Melissa didn’t move away. The rain lasted forty minutes.
