Rachel's POV At the dinner table, Alex lifted his glass, his gaze already on me. “To new beginnings,” he murmured. I forced a smile. “Cheers.” He sat directly opposite me, close enough that our knees brushed under the crisp white linen. Or maybe that was deliberate.
