When we reached the train station, I moved to get out, but Bella grabbed my arm.
"The news said all transportation to the region is cut off. How are you planning to get there?"
"I'll go as far as I can by train, then figure it out," I said, already halfway out the door. "I just need to get closer."
"This is crazy, Ally. Northern Territory is complete chaos right now. You'd be better off waiting in New York for news."
"New York is 1,800 miles away," I said, tears threatening to spill. "No matter how close I get, it'll be closer than here."
Bella sighed, recognizing the determination in my voice. "Keep your phone charged. Text me updates. And for God's sake, be careful."
