“I have a possible solution,” Rafael said. “It might offer you some peace of mind. We could leave Alice here, well protected by my guards, as well as having someone we know and trust watch her.”
This could be a reasonable plan, but there were few people I actually trusted with my child’s safety, and most of them were either hundreds of miles away or going with me into the heart of the lion’s den. Julian and Rafael both weren’t going to let me do this alone.
