“Mom,” Blake said.
Aunt Kathy ignored his pleas. “What was his name again, Blake? The unicorn?”
Begrudgingly, his face turned down, Blake said, “Lord Sparkleton.”
“Ah, that was it,” Aunt Kathy said, and Alice giggled.
“I like that name,” she told Blake, who at once seemed less embarrassed and more pleased.
Down the hallway, the sirens stopped wailing in Mom’s room. Most of the Healers stayed within the room for a few minutes, with only a handful leaving – one of which seemed annoyed.
Only when I saw Amber emerge from the room did I stand and move to greet her.
“She’s stable now,” Amber said.
