Markus watched her, his heart aching for the woman he loved. He could see the turmoil within her, the conflict of wanting to protect this innocent child while also fearing the dangers that lurked around them. He understood the gravity of the decision they were making, and how it could change everything.
Kaia continued, her voice a little steadier as she spoke of Tim and Dana. “They’ll be here soon. They’ll take her with them, and she’ll be safe. They have the resources, the protection... and most importantly, they have love to give her.”
He nodded, still conflicted but trusting Kaia’s judgment. He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her in a comforting embrace. “We’re doing the best we can,” he murmured into her hair. “We’ll make sure she’s safe.”
