Lora nodded slowly. “I’m okay, Azriel.”
“What’s happening?” he asked, his voice full of worry.
Lora took a deep breath, looking into his eyes. “You tell me what’s happening.”
Azriel sighed, a guilty look crossing his face. “Did Kaia tell you?”
“Yes, she did. And I shouldn’t have to hear this from Kaia, Azriel. We’re partners, or are we not?”
He lowered his head, remorse in his voice. “I didn’t want to worry you, especially since you weren’t feeling well.”
Lora took a long, calming breath. “We need to help, Azriel.”
He nodded but looked at her with deep concern. “Lora, the situation is dire. The risks are much higher this time.”
She met his gaze steadily. “Yes, there are risks. But it’s our duty to create a better future for the next generation, for our children.”
