DONOVAN'S POV:
Eating with Amanda at the cafeteria today gave me the kind of peace I haven’t felt in a long, long time. Just sitting across from her, watching her eat, and hearing the silence I’d forced on everyone else—it felt right. I was hoping that, bit by bit, things could finally get back to the way they used to be between us.
But there was this heavy knot in my chest. I wasn’t sure if she still loved me. I mean, besides the mate bond forcing her soul to recognize mine, I didn't know if Amanda would ever love me again. I’d spent months being her worst nightmare.
