Layla’s POV I haven’t seen Vincent in person, and I told him not to come if there was a chance to be caught. The first letter I found felt like a coincidence. The second felt like a pattern. The third felt like a promise. He’s watching and waiting to help. The letters offer a brief bit of strength each time I find a new one. I move through the trees again, slower than the others, but that’s nothing new. Neither is the fact that they continue running without waiting for me.
