Layla’s POV The palace has never looked so extravagant. Usually, Alexander likes a minimal, clean look, but the ceremony calls for much more. Gold banners hang from the vaulted ceilings, catching the light in just a way that they glint. Long tables stretch across the room, decorated in rich fabrics and lined with polished table settings. Beautiful flowers fill the centerpieces, giving off a soft scent that mixes with the scents of succulent meat and fine wine. Guests fill the room, their voices melding together in conversation. Laughter and happy voices float through the air as alliances, territories, and treaties are discussed. Overall, everyone seems excited. Everyone other than me.
