I stared at my phone case for a moment.
Then Dominic's deep voice reached my ear. "Don't get the wrong idea. It's just to keep up appearances."
I forced a smile. "Right."
But my fingers holding the pink phone case still felt warm.
[So it was all just for show?]
When we got home, we found an unexpected little visitor.
Orion's eyes lit up when he saw us. "Hey, Aunt Elara! Grandpa said he's going out of town and I should stay here for a few days."
I smiled warmly. "That's fine. You can stay as long as you want."
"Awesome! I'll take the same room as last time!" he said cheerfully.
I froze for a second before smiling again. "Sure."
I started packing my things to clear out the room for him.
