Chapter 120

992 Words

The next morning began with my phone vibrating against the nightstand. Once. Twice. Again. And again. The sound pushed through my sleep until I finally groaned and reached blindly for it. My eyes barely opened. The room was still dim. The curtains remained closed. My body felt heavy from the events of the previous night. For a moment, I considered ignoring the phone completely. Then it vibrated again. And again. And again. With a sigh, I rolled onto my back and picked it up. The brightness hit me immediately. “Jesus.” I squeezed my eyes shut. The screen felt like a spotlight directly into my soul. After a few seconds, I finally opened my eyes again and unlocked the phone. The notification bar nearly gave me a heart attack. Messages. Emails. Instagram notifications.
