Chapter 84

936 Words

We finally got home. By the time we arrived, it was almost nine in the morning. The moment we stepped inside, I saw Hayes coming down the staircase. He was already dressed for work. Dark suit. Tie. Phone in one hand. His expression was serious until his eyes landed on us. Then it softened immediately. “Good morning, sir,” Mia greeted as she adjusted Leo carefully in her arms. “Heyy,” Hayes replied. His gaze moved over Leo first. Then settled on me. Before I could say anything, he crossed the distance between us and pulled me into a hug. The warmth nearly made me sag against him. I hadn’t realized how much I needed that until that moment. “You need to rest,” Hayes said as he pulled back. His eyes searched my face. “You look exhausted.” I let out a tired laugh. “I know.”
