I shook my head slightly, as if I could physically shake away whatever strange feeling had just settled inside my chest.
“You didn’t have to do this.”
Dominic’s gaze immediately lifted to mine. “I couldn’t see you like this.”
The words came out quietly.
“I had to.”
Something uncomfortable twisted inside me.
I looked away first.
“Please eat.”
My eyes dropped to the battlefield he’d created across my desk.
There were containers everywhere.
A full English breakfast sat beside what looked like fish and chips.
A sandwich from one of the expensive cafés downtown.
A shepherd’s pie.
Soup.
Chicken wraps.
Fruit.
Several bottled drinks.
At least three different desserts.
I stared at the collection.
Then at him.
Then back at the collection.
“You realize this is insane, right?”
