Though Elena initiated the kiss, she hadn't known what to expect. She'd never kissed someone on the lips before! All she knew was that if she didn't, they'd be letting Consigliere Leo—and therefore his boss Tyler—win.
And Elena couldn't let that happen.
She knew they wouldn't get away with a quick peck, but Elena was unprepared for Massimo to kiss her back. She was even less prepared for the amount of passion in such a small act.
Massimo's lips were softer than she expected. He was more fluid in this small gesture—each movement of his lips felt purposeful. It was like Massimo was trying to pour as much love and passion into Elena as he could.
Though that was ridiculous—Massimo probably was just following Elena's lead. It was important they both maintain this ruse, after all.
