(Aurora's POV)
Phineas stepped forward and said something low, just two words.
Patrick's pen stopped moving.
He turned and looked at me - sitting in one of the corridor chairs, arms folded over my stomach, staring at the floor. Then he looked back at Phineas. He stared for a long moment, something shifting in his expression, and then he quietly lowered his head and rewrote the referral.
The wait after the blood draw was the longest forty minutes I could remember.
I sat in the small waiting room and tried not to think too hard. The fluorescent light above me hummed. Someone down the hall was talking on a phone. I kept glancing at the door.
